Kelly Ripa stopped by "Late Night" (Weeknights, 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC) Tuesday and chatted to Jimmy Fallon about the ongoing search for a new "Live!" co-host.
Ripa's been fronting the show with a series of guest hosts since Regis Philbin retired in November 2011, and names linked with the job so far have included Michael Strahan, Neil Patrick Harris, "NY 1 News" morning anchor Pat Kiernan and Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos.
What about her current guest host, "SNL" star Seth Myers?
There was frenzied speculation that he'd landed the gig, but he recently shot the rumors down. "No, no, no, no, no," Meyers told The Orlando Sun-Sentinel. "I'm really in love with the job I have. I'm very excited to be going back [to "SNL"] for the election season, which is always fun."
Ripa joked that Myers may indeed not be the best man to fill Reege's seat fulltime. Apparently, Myers is not a morning person. "When you see Seth Meyers in the morning," she laughed, "it is like looking at a vampire. He is clearly not ready at all, he's like, 'How do you do this every day?'"
"Live! With Kelly" airs weekdays in syndication on ABC. Check local listings. "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights, 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC.
